N&B Mentees win Robotics Competition

Two mentees on the N&B mentoring programme came first in the 2015 IEEE Nigeria Section Robotics competition.  The mentees are: Segun Adeponle and Wande Okeleji (second and fourth from left in the picture).

The 2015 IEEE Nigeria Section Robotics Competition held on the 6th of November at Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Center, Abuja, as a workshop in the Cyber Governance conference. The competition started with two workshop presentations by Engr. Ahmad Sadiq: Building and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle using Arduino, and Engr. Ekele Eke: UGV, how to get it working.

Six universities were represented at the competition: Afe Babalola University, Enugu State University of Technology (ESUT), Federal University of Technology Minna (FUT Minna), Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso (LAUTECH) and University of Lagos (UNILAG).

They were given three tasks to complete, after which UNILAG emerged as the winner, while FUTO and FUT Minna came out as 1st and 2nd Runner-ups respectively. All the teams were given the competition materials to take back to their departments, while the top three teams got prizes.
